Please let me introduce myself, my name is Yamina and I'm Belgian and 40 years old.

I did my nursing training in Belgium (Gent) and completed after 4 years as a qualified general nurse in 1987. I specialised in intensive care nurse for adult, paediatric and neonatology.

I worked for 4 years at a hospital in Belgium on the Intensive Care Unit. I then left to Saudi Arabia one week before the first Gulf war started and stayed there four years working in Intensive Care and Burns Unit. I finally ended up in Anaesthesia were I worked as anaesthesia assistant and had a really interesting two years. The unit did kidney transplants and open-heart surgery on adults, paediatrics and neonatal including a lot of scopic surgery.

After the 4 years in Saudi I moved to the Caribbean in the French West Indies on the Island of St. Martin (French side) where I lived for 11 years working as a private district nurse where diabetes and high blood pressure were the dominant problems. These ailments are the principle cause of leg ulcers, circulatory problems, and gangrene including a lot of amputations and eye problems and haemodialysis for kidney problems.

I speak English, French, Dutch and Arabic Perfectly and understand Spanish and Italian and trying to learn Greek!

I’m a active LIONS member and I am still attached to the Lions Oualichi Club in St. Martin where we are very active with the Sight First action program among with many others.
